SECO International Names Emilio H. Balius, O.D. as New President
SECO International, the world’s largest meeting providing optometrists and ophthalmic professionals outstanding educational opportunities since 1924, is pleased to announce Emilio H. Balius, O.D. will become the next SECO International President and will be formally introduced to the industry during the House of Delegates meeting, during SECO 2018, Friday, March 2, at the Georgia World Congress Center, Amphitheater A3, from 3:45-5:30 PM.
Balius becomes the first Hispanic president to lead the organization. Born in Cuba, his family migrated to Madrid, Spain, before moving to Miami, Florida. Balius began his optometry journey at Florida State University, before entering optometry school at the University of Houston College of Optometry and completing his residency at the Baltimore VA Medical Center. Balius has enjoyed managing his own practice in Florida for the past 25 years. As a result, he is well versed in the needs and concerns of optometrists in today’s business climate.
