Q: Can autorefractor detect astigmatism?
A: A conventional autorefractor can be effective as a first level screening method to detect irregular corneal
astigmatism in places where corneal topography facilities are not available.
Finally, retinoscopy estimates of axis of cylinder, were accepted in 55.7% eyes, while autorefraction values were
accepted in 75.7% eyes, suggesting that while retinoscopy is a better modality for estimating the spherical powers,
AR is more accurate in estimating the cylinder powers, along with their axis.
